Pottery Taster Day Monday February 17th 10-3pm
Have you always wanted to try making a pot on a potter's wheel? Do you want to hand build a clay pot? Here is the perfect experience for you…
You will spend half the day learning the basics of throwing on an electric potter’s wheel. With expert tuition you will be introduced to the wheel with a demonstration and careful explanation of the different stages of making: wedging, centering, opening out and pulling up. You will then try the wheel at your own pace with as much or as little guidance as you like. You will select two pieces for firing.
For the other half of the day you will make a decorated jug or mug. This will be made using the slab building method and decorated with underglaze colours.
The experience runs for 4 hours with an hour break for lunch. The cafe on site is open or please bring lunch. Tea, coffee and biscuits/cake/fruit are included whenever you need a break.
At the end of the session, select your favourite pieces which I will then glaze fire for you in an earthenware glaze. Please allow up to three weeks after your experience for the collection of your finished pieces.
